Because it's more than just photos
I have been drawn to photography for as long as I can remember. I used to love the old film canisters and couldn't wait to see the photos that came back from London Drugs. I used to love looking at the negatives and would dream about being in the dark room developing my own photos. I got that chance when I was in my third semester in university. I used an old canon AE1 film camera and learned the basics of photography. I was totally in love. I spent hours in the darkroom developing film. My first job as a teacher was building a photography program. Since 2001 I've been taking photos and it wasn't until I decided to do it professionally that I saw a huge change in my photos. I spent hours learning and practicing, reading everything I could get my hands on and saving up for professional equipment. Family Archive is a labour of love and truly is my passion.
When I'm meeting families or wedding parties for the first time I give a mini crash course on how to present well on film. I understand composition and lighting through years of experience and education. I help people feel at ease on camera, and bring out the authentic moments. I create opportunities for beautiful moments, with a mix of candid images and organic posing. I'm here to support families and brides through the process of booking, knowing what to wear, what vendors to choose and build beautiful heirloom quality albums and prints. My art history background inspires me to create works of art to last a lifetime. I wan't to give the future generations of your family a glimpse into your story. A story of love, passion and above all else connection. There is so much value in capturing images with loved ones. It's a gift that keeps giving.
I strive to give the highest level of customer service. My approach is about making your photo session be as fun and enjoyable as possible. If a mom or bride is stressed it makes it really hard to get joyful photos. As a mom I know how difficult it can be to get a toddler to wear something they don't want, not fall asleep in the car on the drive over, and what happens when you try to take their favourite stuffy away. I work on a "follow the child" method and take wiggle breaks when needed. I focus on building connections and pulling personalities out on camera. I'm efficient and give lots of positive feedback and will surprise you with a sneak of the back of my camera. I edit all of the quality photos and you get to pick your images. I hand edit all of my images and they are delivered in full-resolution. I believe in printing photos and getting them out on display to enjoy for years to come.

The first step to booking me is sending me an inquiry through the contact form on my website. Make sure you give me all the details of your amazing day! I will get back to you within 24-48 hours.
This is where I get back to you and we get to chat about your day, and go over the details of your wedding or family portrait session. Packages not for you? Let's chat about your custom needs
As soon as you are able, I highly recommend booking with me ASAP after you are engaged. Some couples even book me for their date before they choose their venue! I don't mean this to be any pressure, but I book very early on (normally 8-12+ months in advance for peak dates, and 6+ months for non-peak dates).
In short, book as soon as you can to reserve your date with me! There's only one of me, and dates fill up fast.
I offer two different levels of engagement session: An adventurous session or my personal favorite -- the EPIC session. If you are wanting engagement photographs that aren't cliche and stand out with some jaw-dropping scenery, the adventurous or epic session is for you.
Every engagement session is a great way to practice poses (don't worry, I'll coach you through it) and get even more amazing photographs for your save-the-dates, invitations, and prints to hang on your wall!
We don't expect you to know what the best timeline is for your unique wedding day, and this is where our expertise really comes handy. We'll certainly recommend doing a first-look, and we'll recommend a timeline that will get you the most out of your time with us -- all while you are reducing your stresses and maximizing your enjoyment. We have the experience creating LOTS of timelines. Let us help you.
On your wedding day, you can relax and enjoy your day with your friends and family. At this point, all of the questions have been taken care of, and we are there right by your side for the entire coverage window that you have booked us.

"My partner and I had a shoot with Jenn a few weekends ago and it was perfect! Before we even had the shoot her communication was outstanding, she gave us great outfit guidelines which had an amazing impact on our photos. (Seriously, take the wardrobe advice - it'll make all the difference!). The gallery for receiving and viewing our photos was also excellent, easy to maneuver and order from. She was vibrant, attentive and had a keen eye for details. Highly recommend!

"We had Jenn for our first couple photography session and I can’t say enough good things about her! I’m very awkward in front of the camera, but she made sure I felt relaxed and comfortable, her instructions were so easy to follow. She’s not only a professional, reliable photographer but a genuinely nice, fun person. Our pictures turned out beautiful, love her natural editing style. I’ll definitely hire her in the future for our engagement and wedding pictures."

“Jenn is seriously the best at what she does! She has taken our photos two years in a row now and it is something that we all look forward to - even my hubby. She has a way of making you feel relaxed in front of the camera so it's like you're having a visit with a great friend but you get some awesome photos out of the deal. I would recommend Jenn 100 times over to anybody and look forward to seeing her passion grow!”

I had my photos done by Jenn and she has amazing passion and energy for what she does. I had a few shoots with her already because I love her work and the experience so much. Each time she brings her all! I am shy at times around the camera but she just makes me feel so confident. Her photos and editing are beautiful. Thank you so much Jenn!

We had our engagement photos done with Jenn and it was an amazing experience! Though we are both quite unphotogenic, she was very communicative and put us at ease. A very professional and skilled photographer! Our photos turned out incredible and it is all thanks to her! Would highly recommend Family Archive Photography for all of your photoshoot needs!

I hired Jennifer photograph for some headshots. Not only did she do an amazing job, she made the whole process simple.I was a little nervous for the shoot, as the pictures meant a lot to me. The best thing she did was simplify things for me and allow me to be relaxed. Jennifer coached me through the whole process and even had some suggestions to help me be myself for the photos. It helped, and it showed in the end results. It was very convenient to book a time with her and she also had a few different options for locations where we could do the shoot. I highly recommend Family Archive.
